What happens after I submit my application?

Once we have received your complaint we will send you confirmation of receipt. Our staff then check whether the conditions for an arbitration procedure have been satisfied. The execution of an arbitration procedure may be rejected if the dispute does not fall within the jurisdiction of the Arbitration Service.

If it does, the public authority concerned is informed of your case. The public authority then has the opportunity of reacting to the circumstances described and remedying the situation within one month. If this does not take place, the Arbitration Service forwards the statement given by the public authority to you and gives you the opportunity of commenting on it within one month.

The arbitration procedure is usually conducted in writing. If no settlement can be reached, the arbitrator submits an arbitration proposal to the parties concerned.

An application may be withdrawn at any time without reason.

If a meeting needs to be held at the Arbitration Service, an application may be made to have any necessary travel expenses refunded.
